Sustainable Landscape Transformation at Nvidia

Nvidia, based in Santa Clara, California, designs graphics processing units (GPUs) for the gaming and professional markets, as well as system on a chip units (SoCs) for the mobile computing and automotive market.

Objectives

Develop a landscape management and irrigation system that was suitable for a drought environment.

As Monarch began to care for the Nvidia campus it was clear to our team that irrigation and plant materials needed to be changed out for enhanced growth.

Challenges

The team was faced with replacement of the irrigation and bringing in drought tolerant plant materials that would thrive and bloom throughout the year.

Prioritization was placed on the main entrance of the campus to support a thriving employee experience.

Solutions

The Monarch Landscape project manager worked alongside the Nvidia site manager to develop a long term asset management that supported a technologically advanced irrigation system and implemented drought tolerant plant material.

With emphasis on the front esthetics, the team planted Spreading Rush, Red Yucca and Dragon Tree. These materials thrive well in the warm California sun and require limited water.

In the most intense heat, the materials are only watered three times a week with Netafim drip irrigation; during months with rain, the irrigation is turned off.

With an eye for material health and water wise solutions our teams have partnered strategically with Nvidia to enhance the beauty of both of the campuses for Nvidia.
